...point is I have fedora and 1.5G should I try installing ubuntu instead
and what does that one require for dynamips ?

Huh? It makes no sense that one Linux _distribution_ would
specifically require a different hardware configuration than another.
On what basis do you claim it requires a quad processor and 4GB of RAM
as minimum? And the fan? Maybe you need to work on your idlepc values.
