Yes, configuring po interface first is good.

however when I configure ether channel do it this way.

int rang fa0/x - y
sh
sw tr en dot
sw mo tr
channel-group 1 mo act * (now po interface will be automatically created
with trunk config)*
channel-protocol lacp
! *after doing the same on other end*
no sh

Now ether channel go good with out any problem for me
