I think generally speaking you will get a better feel for what the real lab
is asking you to do. Besides, if you still have questions in the real lab,
you can always probe the proctor assuming you can ask the question in a
manner that suggests you understand the technical differences between the
solutions.

Yeah - I would love to see the EXACT wording of the PRACTICE task.
If it is to "form a trunk without using DTP" - the correct answer
structure would be:
switchport trunk encap insert_trunk_prot_here
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
If it is "do not trunk the links - and do not use DTP" - I would not
set each to switchport mode auto - I would go one step further and
shut them down ;-)
