Fair point.
I think where the newer CCIE wins is in the latest things. That said in many
settings we still find older technologies and approaches bedded in and
experience and/or certification there wouldn't harm you at all. I guess the
experienced non certified practitioner might well prosper there vs the non
experienced newly minted CCIE. I suppose it depends on which direction the
technology in the datacentre was heading. In the hands-on world much time is
simply spent on getting things done as opposed to investing lots of time in
understanding capabilities (something a certification track offers us).
On that note are we experiencing a slowdown in new voice
deployments/projects/upgrades now?
