If a requirement asks me to configure logging on a switch, so that
syslog messages are stored locally except debug messages, even in the
event of a reboot of the switch, I have configured the following:
logging file flash:logs.txt 6
Is this the same as:
logging file flash:logs.txt informational
Here are the options available to me on the switch:
Rack1SW1(config)#logging file flash:logs.txt ?
<0-7> Logging severity level
<4096-2147483647> Logging file maximum size
alerts Immediate action needed (severity=1)
critical Critical conditions (severity=2)
debugging Debugging messages (severity=7)
emergencies System is unusable (severity=0)
errors Error conditions (severity=3)
informational Informational messages (severity=6)
nomax No maximum logging file size
notifications Normal but significant conditions (severity=5)
warnings Warning conditions (severity=4)
<cr>
So my thinking is that the severity level of 6 is the same as typing the
word "informational". Would that be correct?
Thanks,
Chuck
