if you read carefully I had mentioned I asked him basic routing and switching
question and he did poorly in all questions. The question posted here was the
last I asked. I can tell you now that most people reading this have not
forgotten why you would use a switch in comparison to a hub. i think this was
thought at the CCNA level

In all fairness, what are you trying to evaluate, his experience or specific
tasks oriented around the knowledge he should have retained through his CCIE
journey? In my opinion, your question is quite vague and does not assess his
CCIE background. If you want to test his CCIE prowess ask him how he might
secure the environment so no devices can talk to each other but the router
interface and you don't use ACL's. As you know, that is what the CCIE
tests for, how to accomplish task-a,b and c given requirements and
restrictions
x,y, and z. In y opinion I would re-evaluate the interview questions.

I interviewed this CCIE from Saudi. He just became one this september and his
name is Ali. From basic switching and routing questions, he did very poorly
in
his answers. The one that really stumped I and my manager was the following
question.Q. Ali you have been assigned a ticket to install a Cisco router for
Internet connection. The customer site have 10 users, with a 24 port hub
installed. The network is operating well with no errors. After you complet
your WAN router install, what recommendation can you make to the customer
concerning their HUB.A. I will ask them to rplace it with a switchQ. Ali what
is your reason for this recommendation.Ali could not come up with one. Here I
am a dual CCIE sitting with my boss, I felt my number shrink in
embarassment.B What is going on here, are guys out there buying their CCIE?
If
they are at least read the study guides.B B
