Hey guys having just interviewed with a few nicer companies in my own state
it was interesting to hear about CCIE's or maybe just CCNP's (but I'll
safely quote what I was told) did not know how to properly explain a working
Spanning-Tree scenario. That is a sign of the times. As sure as any.
Now how many know how to combat a real broadcast storm, diagnose it, and
effectively resolve the scenario? I go this one too.
I get hit here and there but not in these areas.
If you look closely some CCIE's have posted some questions here that you
think would have been covered by mostly any CCIE Program of study offered by
the vendors on this list and elsewhere.
Cheating may be rampant. It's a necessary evil as we are in a very
connected world. However, the numbers in the USA of CCIE's are about steady
and not quite at the 90% rate. It's still a bit of a challenge - at least
for me anyway.
And in the US, employers are Telco/ISP types and they are usually quite
savvy these days, so not much chance to get in and "wing it". A job
candidate has to be seasoned and not just with a few medals (certs), but
also with some solid concepts of design, a firm troubleshooting methodology,
and a general sense of finesse and confidence. A series of solid wins on
the job at hand help as well. We all know this.
