Nouman,
For OSPF neighborship to come up, a couple of things have to match:
Must pass the authentication process
Must be in the same primary subnet, including same subnet mask
Must be in the same OSPF area
Must be of the same area type (stub, NSSA, and so on)
Must not have duplicate RIDs
OSPF Hello and Dead timers must be equal
MTU size must be the same
So take care that those things match and you will see, your neighbors will
love eachother :o)
regards
Roger

Hi,
Thanks to all for your reply on my earlier post.
I will soon hit the lab 1st time ; so curious questions starts floating and
u all GURU's with lots of experience are best to answer.
SW1==============SW2
Sw1 is connected via cross cable to Sw2 on port Fa 0/19
both have different MTU size
OSPF doesnt comes up and debug shows the following error
04:13:29: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 8.8.8.8 on FastEthernet0/19 from
DOWN to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Ignore timer expired
04:15:49: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 8.8.8.8 on FastEthernet0/19 from
EXSTART to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Too many retransmissions
if I do "IP ospf mtu-ignore" then all works well.
just wanted to know if in the lab it says dont change any initial config
and proctor says do as per question requirement, then what to do???
Will "IP ospf mtu ignore" impact other config on sw1 & SW2
