    Agreed,

when I first picked up a vendor's workbook (Ipexpert was the first of many I
purchased) I was like "what the hell is this?" I was completed befuddled and
not even close to being prepared. I sat the NMC-1 class once, the NMC-2
class twice and lo and behold, I passed the lab. But what's underneath the
surface is that I LEARNED the technology, I mean really learned it. The
teaching methodology is sound and sound teaching will help you pass the lab.
It also really helps that NMC keeps their class sizes at a certain
instructor-student ratio so they can give you extra attention if needed. I
cannot speak for the other vendors classes (except for GK's which I really
didn't like) but I'm sure they are top notch as well.

I'll just say that NMC's classes were the best 10k I spent in my CCIE
learning program, follow up the classes with some mock-lab workbooks and
it's a sure-fire method if you can supply the dedication.
