I have not "labbed" this specifically but I have ran into this in my lab
while just messing around. I was running 12.4 code at the time but must
apologize as I can't say with certainty the exact code. I saw the same
thing you are seeing that direct adjacencies with the MA receive, but other
routers do not. I equated it to an IOS bug and moved on, I am interested
now as to what the actual answer is.
