Subject: Finally ,the game is over.CCIE#21862 R&S,Sydney
Hi folks,
I used to be a passive member of groupstudy, so I didn't participate a lot
in discussions.
A little bit about myself ,I'm 24 and currently studying MS of
Telecommunication in Melbourne. Since I'm studying full time ,I had no time
to work officially for a company yet.
My story goes back to 2 years ago ,when I decided to take CCNP exam ,at that
time I knew roughly about CCNA level stuff, after studying for 9 month ,ccie
written and ccnp passed in July 2007.
So I decided to start studying for lab exam immediately, I was about
finishing my BS ,so stuff not runs as smooth as I expected ,so after 7
months I sat 4 lab exam in Dubai on Jan 2008,every thing goes well ,I spent
about 4 hours checking my configs ,so pretty confident that I nailed it,but
surprisingly I failed!
I remember that it was really hurts ,the worse part was I had no idea what
was my fault, at that time I already planned to come to Australia , so 20
days later I moved to Australia to complete my MS.
It took couple of months for me to get used to new place ,so hardly touch
router till previous month , I started studying again , it was really
painful ,all of stuff got blurry in my mind and need serious clean up.
After studying for one bloody month for about 10 to 12 hours per day, I went
to Sydney on 26th August, I usually very calm at exams even my first attempt
I was very relaxed but in Sydney stressed out very much during exam . I had
a doubt on one of switching part questions, and it was a critical questionso
couldn't leave without making it works, after asking proctor that maybe
initial configs is wrong for three times ,he said it does not wrong but u
may change it!!!!! So issue cleared but already I lost 1.5 hour working on
that issue. So I finished only one hour before end time, only one hour left
4 verifying , so I couldn't verify in away I like to, being not satisfied
came back to Melbourne, surprisingly see that I was passed!!!
CCIE seems scary when it's story told by others and seems require years of
experience but in my opinion it's just a game. U should learn how to play
this game's rules to win the game. I knew Tech for my first attempt but
didn't pay much attention to rules of the game ,so failed on my first
attempt.
My main resource of study materials was IE WB 4.0 , IE COD and DOC CD.
I built up my lab in past ,but after Dynamips came just use 3550 at home and
using Dynamips for routing part. For missing feathers of 3560 I rent some
online sessions.
Tips: Just try to pay attention to details ,and learn how to verify each
task u r doing. U HAVE TO VERIFY EACH TASK and make sure your config works.
This is the most important part IMO.
I'm currently looking for part time networking role in Melbourne, but chance
of finding part time professional networking job in Melbourne is very slim.
Hope to find one soon!
I'd like to acknowledge people in GS and particularly Brian(s) for their
great devotions to CCIE training program , Scott Morris 4 answering
questions when SB really calls for him and other Pro folks gathering here to
help each other.
