    I'm not sure about that particular lab (I do not remember the exact
topology), but I think the idea is as follows:

    -when you redistribute OSPF into RIP, RIP will automatically pick up:
            a) all routes that show up in the topology table as being
received from RIP, and
            b) all connected routes corresponding to interfaces that run
RIP.

    -by manually redistributing connected routes into RIP, you "break"
part b), by forcing the router to redistribute only a specific subset of
the connected routes. Therefore, you need to include the connected
interfaces running OSPF, since they are no longer automatically
redistributed.
