Have you thought about renting some rack time? That's a much cheaper
replacement than purchasing your own 6500 and vg248. There's not that
much "stuff" you need to do on either of them, so after a few rack
sessions you'll probably have a fairly good understanding of what you
need to do. Then, before you go take your lab exam, get a couple more
sessions to re-familiarize yourself with them.
