I hate to admit it, but I agree with you here... ;-) Something like
the asessor lab? Yeah, that would be relatively easy to do if you are
CCIE.

However, that would not test the theory behind the finger knowledge.
Sometimes it's easy to solve certain problems, or scenarios, without
knowing "how stuff works".

Re-cert should be mix of the two worlds.
