High hold queue and MTU on a T3

I have a client who has a 3845 connected to a T-3 for full 45 Meg
throughput. The other side of the router is a Gig port connected to a 4006.
They are getting a TON of output drops on the serial T-3 interface. The
output hold queue was set to 4096. Is that hold queue to large for a T-3???
The MTU is also set at 4470 for some reason.
