Just to summarise:
The question was about blocking VTP advertisement, which may be understood
to be preventing your device advertising vtp, or preventing it
accepting/forwarding vtp from other devices.
Transparent mode prevents your own device advertising VTP. New IOS release
also let you disable vtp on a specific interface (but you won't see these in
the lab).
If you only need to block advertisements from a particular other known VTP
domain name, then you can make sure you use a different VTP domain name
yourself. If you don't know the other domain name, or are required to
ensure that incoming vtp advertisements are always blocked then you need to
use a MAC ACL (matching the destination 01:00:0c:cc:cc:cc and protocol type
0x2003).
