Ha!

You would compare HP and DELL to who? Cisco partners like Calence and
Dimension Data? WYFBY?

I think HP could buy both of them with their R&D line of credit at one bank,
in one country, on one day.

Having spent the last 3 months doing more Microsoft work than Cisco work, I
can tell you. Microsoft products (when properly configured by experts) are
excellent. I challenge

any open source applications to provide the ROI of SQL server or MS
Exchange, with all the functionality that can be readily deployed. Open
source is great- if you have an incredible staffing budget and can pay unix
experts several hundred dollars an hour to deploy them. For the rest of the
world, Microsoft is not bad. I think the graphical presentation of complex
technologies make Microsoft seem easy- thereby attracting less than skilled
people who think they know what they are doing.

Anyway, who cares if the MCA is 10k or 50k to get in. it's worth it. You'll
find many of the MCA are HP senior architects. HP being a leader in IT
hardware and support understands the value of such a program. Do you think
"Tom Smith Cisco reseller" with 4 CCIE's on the payroll is doing anything to
better technology worldwide like HP? I think the "gold" partners just flip
routers and boots into companies. then go out of business when Cisco rises
their prices and they cant compete.

I'll leave you with this thought. I met this gorgeous Spanish TV star at a
hotel lounge with her friends one night. And to my surprise she and her
friends wanted to go to an after hours club (open after 4am). We'll I took
her around, danced with her, showed her some fun, but when I took her back
to her hotel, she asked me what do I do? I told her IT. She instantly said
"Ah like Steve Jobs". I instantly knew I am nothing in IT. I don't do IT. I
use IT. That's the CCIE- got it? I didn't take her. I was crushed. I said
goodnight and left her by the elevators.

The downside to that is it costs between 10k+ to go through the process
which is very lame specially for our friends in 3rd world countries. The
MCA will never take off simply put because microsoft does not drive value to
there certifications like cisco does with its partners. Any two idiots who
took a microsoft test can become gold partners.

Yup, and no lawyers/doctors have ever cheated on a test...

;)

The CCDE cert is deflating daily... I think I'm going for the MCA instead.
Cisco SHOULD have done board review, proven person, who can speak,
demonstrate character, experience, real-world accomplishment. Take the
selected few and them in a 6 week intensive hands-on program, where
there are practical, written, presentation, and project management tests
coupled with difficult technical issues to conquer.

That would be a real cert...

Please note that test is delivered in VUE professional testing centres
-- not all VUE test centers! According to Cisco guys, these centers
are where lawyers/doctors/etc. take their professional tests.
