RE: What's your View on Mock Lab Result

if you have 77% for the NMC you should be ready to take the real thing.

There're few reasons that make people perform mocklabs worse than actual
exams.

- In mocklabs, you do not have the opportunity to clarify questions with
proctors.
- There might be some IOS/hardware issues that cost you points and
valueable time.

I tried NMC mock lab once and got arround 60%. I am sure I got one issue
with IOS, as I could not put a tunnel interface into an OSPF area using
interface level command. I tried the same command on other router, it
works fine. In addition to lost points, this issue cost me at least 15
minutes to trouble-shoot and frustration. Their 2600 IOS versions are
prety old, where I could not even use my favorite command "show run | s
router".

The switching part asks to configure a link between 2 switches to be in
VLAN x. I configured one as routed, the other as access-vlan x. They
expected both two interfaces in access vlan x mode! I knew there are
different interpretations when I read the question but did not have a
chance to clarify. This mistake costed me not only points for this
specific question, but also other related ones (e.g. spanning tree).

I personnally do not recommend NMC mocklab before taking actual exam. If
money is not an issue for you, then it may be OK to try it few months
before your lab date to see your strengths/weaknesses, but not close to
your date. This is not usually the case for most of us, as we want to
try a mocklab when we feel ready, don't we. If you try NMC mocklab
before your actual lab date, the result you get may destroy your moral
and confidence, and leave you in doubt.

Money wise, IE mocklabs are better choice, as they are just half the
price, and the quality (scenarios and proctors feedbacks) are very good.
In addition, IE mocklabs have difficulty level you can chose. NMC do
not.

In general, a good mock lab should reflect similar level of difficulty
in the real lab, and should not play arround with wording to much.

Agreed,

I never got above 70% on NMC but passed R&S 1st time

If i get a 77 with NetMaster checkit, I would go take the exam right
away :) A friend of mine, average ~65 on 3 checkit exams and did well on
the real lab.
