If you notice, all of the specialty tracks are a far distance from RS.
That said....sec is a tough track and covers most of the current
standards on security. If you want the "managerial" version of security,
then the CISSP is the way to go.
As to "wasting your time"....in the end all the tracks are tough and as
most will tell you on this board, figure out what you want to do by what
you enjoy...not by what others tell you is the current flavor of the
month. All of the ccie tracks require massive effort....it is easier to
get a masters degree.
