It's amazing how well you can weed out the cluebies with relatively
simple questions like this -- ARP, DHCP, IP subnetting etc. It's mind
boggling how many 'systems/network engineer' type people can't
articulate the operation of these most basic concepts.

On the general topic of interviewing, if someone can describe to me
how those sort of things work, they're half way there. If they can't
describe in detail how more complex things work, _but can tell me how
they'd go about finding out_, they're almost home. If they present
well and look me in the eye, I try not to let them leave the room
without signing up :-)

The skill of "how to learn" is one of the most valuable, in my opinion.
