RE: Loopback interfaces -> redistributing or network?

Read the task. I IE's WB VOL II. There are several nuances to
knowing/learning which to use.

When should we use the network statement and when should we use the
redistribute connected route-map... to include the loopback into the routing
protocol?

For instance, get the full mask from a loopback into OSPF, but DO NOT use
the "ip ospf network point-to-point" command on the loopback. See if the
task said not to "change the network type on any interface", and

I mean, it is clear to me, when redistributing Ill have another metric and
the route will be external to the routing protocol but does it really
matter?

Yeah, what if you didn't remember "redistributing connected" will make that
router an ASBR and bring in a loopback interface as a TYPE 5 LSA or TYPE 7
in a NSSA. Just remember this wont work in a STUB/TOTALLY STUB area.

What is reason to use one over the other?

>to correctly satisfy the requirements of a task exactly. You may be steered
down one road by hints, such as the fact it's a stub area and you want the
full mask (network command under ospf + "ip ospf network point-to-point" is
now required), etc.

I usually just use the network command under eigrp/ospf until told otherwise
by the wording of a task. I'll be writing my own workbooks/designing my own
topology in the next few weeks for my 10 day bootcamp. Of course I'll be
using ONLY the doc cd and the lab blueprint of course. I'll get back to you
if I find any gotcha's beyond this.
