I'm trying to configure a serial interface to be a bacup for a frame
subinterface. The problem I''m running into is that every time I issue the
backup command on the frame interface it brings down the serial interface. If
I then shut the frame subinterface the serial interface does not come up and I
cannot ping the router thats attached to that interface. When I unshut and
remove the backup command I get my connectivity to the router thats attatched
to the serial interface. show backup shows that operation is normal when the
frame interface is up and disabled when I shut the frame interface. heres the
debug from the debug backup
R4(config-subif)#back int s0/1/0
