Rik,
I'm glad your experience with your Class went well. I would have to say
from the audit I did of the class over a year ago then my attendance in
the Class in March of this year I feel the same way. That audit of
Narbik's class and talking to him for about 30 minutes during one of his
breaks that day is what convinced me that I could become a CCIE.
Like many on GS whom have gone out and bought every workbook (not every
class like some *insert name here*). I have found it easier to focus on
subjects while I am preparing. Then use the great mock labs that bring
it all together down the last stretch (Search the group list you will
find them).
This has been my turning point. A few weeks ago I emailed two CCIEs that
I respect and had individually contributed to me going for my CCIE. I
was at a loss, I was half way out the door ready to quit like so many
before me. My GF sat me down at my desk picked up the VOL 1 workbook of
Narbiks and said "open it up, read the TASK to me tell me what you need
to do then do the lab". While she knows nothing of what we do she sat on
me till I started just looking and reading and typing away. It helped.
Of course I'm still fighting that hard task of keeping focus and getting
this done. The focused work books have kept me there. I worked with a
CCIE named David Voss and he help me put together a plan for my studies
something for me to follow. This is a LOT better then what I have had.
After I did all of Narbik's frame-relay I opened up IE's Vol and did
their Frame-relay. Once I realized what they were asking it was clicking
(yes I've been around for 12 years and I suck at FR).
Anyway I'm still waiting to here back from my TWO IE friends they've
both been VERY busy.
Again Congrats Rik and nice write up. If you are ever out in Pasadena
again let me know, I live REALLY close to the class =P.
Good Journey!
