thoughts:

bsr boarder filters pim 224.0.0.13 with no acl. You will need the boundry
filter if you want to filter admin scoped or ssm multicast ranges (239/8,232/8)
or local scope (224/8). Which may be of interest to you.

multicast boundry filters what ever you put into an acl (as you have stated).
- and what is above.

Subject: ip pim bsr-border or ip multicasting boundary

Hi Folks,

I am practicing msdp between two different AS. I was wondering if i am using
PimV2 or auto-RP, how can i filter RP request from one AS to another.

  I can use

  ip multicast boundary auto_rp

  ip access-list st auto_rp
  deny host 224.0.1.39
  deny host 224.0.1.40
  permit any

  OR in case of BSR(PimV2)

  i can use
  ip pim bsr-border

  What is the difference?

  Please advise.

  Regards
  Saptanshu
