Local registration can replace the need for a technology prefix, but you still
need a zone prefix for interzone CAC to work.
imho, it happens in different phases of the gatekeeper call processing
algorithm.
Zone prefixes are also very important for invia/outvia gatekeeper.

Subject: Re: Gatekeeper Call Admission Control issue
Thanks Avner, for responding so quickly..
Here are my observation i want to share..
Gateway in RS1 zone is registering with its E.164 numbers to the Gatekeeper..
thats why didnt configure the prefix for the same. So I suppose Gatepeeker
should be knowing that calls are going to gateway in RS1 zone. Please correct
me if I am wrong.
Also,
when i do " show gatekeeper zone status " I am seeing only the current total
banwidth field is getting updated not the current interzone bandwidth field
when call is being made.
Probably that may be the reason why bandwidth interzone command is not
restricting the over usage of BW. However with bandwidth total command CAC for
excess BW utilisation is working.
Could not understadn why the current interzone field is not getting
populated.
Appreciate your help in understanding the cause for this ...

The gatekeeper probably don't know what zone the call is associated with,
since there is no 'zone prefix' configured.
He is probably 'thinking' that the call is internal to zone HQ-RTR and that
call scenario is not subjected to CAC.
When you have an active call, type 'show gatekeeper zone status' and it will
tell you what bandwidth is available/used and where.

Subject: Gatekeeper Call Admission Control issue
I was trying to configure the gatekeeper to limit the bandwidth between
interzone sessions for say 128 kbps... both zones where i wanted to limit this
are local.
I found the gatekeeper was letting more then one G711 calls between these
zones... below listed is the config on my Gatekeeper..
gatekeeper
zone local HQ-RTR HYPERLINK "http://voice.com/" \nvoice.com HYPERLINK
"http://192.168.10.1/" \n192.168.10.1 zone local RS1 HYPERLINK
"http://voice.com/" \nvoice.com gw-type-prefix 1#* default-technology
bandwidth interzone zone RS1 128 no shutdown
It will be great if someone can suggest what I am missing here.
Thanks..
