Hi GS mates,
Can you please clarify few doubts regarding Spanning tree protocol which I
had developed while doing some practice labs?
consider SW1 as primary root for vlan X and SW2 as secondary for vlan X.
1: What is the preferred way of changing spanning tree timers? Using
spanning tree vlan X forward command or spanning-tree vlan X root primary
diameter.
2: If SW1 is the root for vlan X then to expedite convergence on other
switches in network (in case of port failure) should I change forward delay
only on ROOT(and | or secondary root switch).
My conclusion of the above question is If technically we should change it
only on root switch but if there is root failure next root switch also
should have forward delay command configured. am i correct here?
If any of you have experienced can you let me know how is it done in actual
network deployment?
3: if I need to configure covergence time on a switch to be 12 seconds what
is the logic behind changing hello and max age? In other words should I
consider changing hello and max age timer also. or simply say spanning vlan
X forward-delay 12 serves the purpose.
Thanks,
Mac
