Hello Anbu,

Debugs can take quite a bit of the systems resources. I would suggest
doing as specific a debug as possible. What type of debug are you trying?
What info are you looking for?

Also, I would suggest using the console and having the 'undebug all'
command already in the prompt so you can press enter if your box becomes
slow without having to wait to type it in.

specific examples on a 6500 (or any router)...

xxxxx#debug ip eigrp 1 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0

xxxxx#debug standby events

xxxxx#debug ip packet ?
  <1-199> Access list
  <1300-2699> Access list (expanded range)
  detail Print more debugging detail
  <cr>

Debug in 6500....

Hi All,
Here i have a problem with enabling the debug.the exact
situation two 6509 switches are placed as Core Switches and there are
some Access switches. i have configured only few vlans with HSRP and
nothing else. But if i enable the debug in the 6509 it is getting
slow. after that i cannot work normaly and it take few seconds to type
one charactor in the command line.
What may be the reason for this.....?

Regards,
Anbu.
