Hi Group.
SCENARIO:
[SW1]fas0/14----TRUNK-----fas0/14[SW2]
If Im asked to configure the trunk ports between both switches, and in
switch 2 the trunk link should be designated ports for all active VLANS in
the spanning-tree domain.
two possible actions come to my maind..
1. As the question says SW2 TRUNK port should be "DESIGNATED", I undertand
it implicitly ask to configure SW2 to be a root switch for ALL ACTIVE VLANS.
2. Think in enbling also "root guard" as with root guard protection in the
trunk port in switch 2, it will maintain and protect the switchport to
always star DESIGNATED.
These example is taken from the InternetworkExpert VOL2, ver 4.1 lab 16 task
1.1.
In the solution guide I can see that they set the trunk ports in switch 2
with a cost of 1.
But what if for example SW1 is autamtically elected as a root switch?.. as a
result SW2 trunk port will be a ROOT PORT insted of a desiganted port.
If anyone experiencing the same issue, or understand why in the solution
guide they set the cost to 1, please answer.
Thanks.
