You're right. I've just configured up a couple of scenarios on my
3600s and it is indeed an interface command. NVI nat definitely works
on a 3600. Initially when I tried to get NVI NAT working I copied an
example from the DocDVD that had the indenting wrong on the "ip nat
enable" command making it look like it was global rather than
belonging to an interface. What a difference a missing space can make
hey!

Anyway after playing around with NVI nat I don't think I could go back
to the horrors of the "old" way. The old nat method is asymmetrical
which sometimes forces you to use some ugly (and non-intuitive)
routing to get around order of operation problems. The NVI nat method
is beautifully symmetrical and does not need any extra routing to
work.
