NetApp used to only be a NAS, but hey have a full SAN line now that supports iSCSI, FC, and Ficon. So does HP and Dell's solution is a rebranded EMC so I would look at EMC as well. NetApp and HP as well as IBM and Hatachi are resellers of both Brocade and the Cisco MDS line. HP and Dell since they sell all three compenent (servers, storage and storage networking) will sell you a complete working package. NetApp will develop a complete backend solution for you and they have a virtualization product that will allow you to incorporate and legacy storage into your design. It all really depends on how large your storage requirements are.
If you really want to understand the technology out there go through the Cisco Storage Networking Solutions Guides becuase it's not just a NAS versus SAN world out there anymore. You'd be crazy to design any solution without at least thinking forward about eventualy implementing virtualization.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/ps4159/index.html
They have a white paper and a product out there for almost every standardized storage technolgy including FC, iSCSI, Ficon, Inifiniband, NASB (server-less strorage backup) and there new Nexus line.
NASB is cool stuff. Anyone that has remote sites will local tape backups, should look at the technology out there.

I would recommend stating at Dell's website, and go through the storage
products they offer. The make a simple, reliable, good storage product.
Move up the chain with Netapp and Brocade- two other big storage players.
I consider Netapp a NAS, as its iSCSI... Brocade is a popular san switch
player, used with the DELL and other san lines.
Last if you are brave enough, read up on EMC Clarion and other really
high-end SANS.
