No, the access switch does need to do the option82 insertion (so DHCP server can receive port information).
However, - by default - the Layer3 switch refuses to accept DHCPDISCOVER broadcasts with Option82 info already
in it. That is why you need additional "no ip dhcp snooping information option" command on the L3

Hi Geert,

But the Access switch needs not to do the Option82 insertion, right?
This would still be done by the L3 distribution switch?

Just a thought anyways.
