CCIE SP - Rechability in Lab

Hi,
   
  I want to know as in Routing and Switching we are supposed to have reach ability in our POD and if specified to Backbones as well, so in CCIE SP what is the reachability criteria.
   
  And more over are we suppose to have reachability through same mpls-vpn's?
  But i have seen in workbooks that even mpls-vpn's doesn't ping depends upon question.
   
  So what is expected in CCIE SP Lab?
   
  Please advise.
