?????? You could use a Cisco ATA-188 with the?extension number to unlock the door configured?as the DN. Then you could use a Relay like this one?? http://www.quantometrix.com/catalog2_dialers.htm
to lock / unlock the doors and restrict access.?

AFAIK, every time you need to interact to external world, an E&M interface is the way to go. E&M has independent signalling and "assume answer" settings so you can operate a door, a pager amplifier, or?
whatever your needs be.?
