Tony.
Exactly dont know "all considerations" but wi will tell you what I will
consider to recive responses for multicast enabled neighbors connected in
the same local segment where Im sourcing multicast feed.
- verify the layer 2 media support broadcast transmission (some frame relay
scenarios you need to enable broadcast support or even enable gre tunnel,
for broadcast support).
- Verify there are direct layer 2 paths from every neighbor to your
multicast source router, for example in frame relay verify you have dlci
mapping from every neighbor to your multicast source router, If you dont,
you need to do aditional multicast configuration depending in the type of
multicast routing you are using (sparse, dense) or even using a gre tunel
between spokes.
- Verify all routers have multicast enabled in the interface (path towards
the multicast source).
- Verify along with the unicast routing protocol, if the path towards the
source is different than the path configured using multicast routing. if
both are different, a sure rpf failure may occur, and of course you need to
manually troubleshoot. (set ipmroutes, or change igp metrics towards the
source).
Hope if helps.
