I'm very familiar with Citi. Not only do I do a little banking with
them...I know someone out there in NY that's still employed. And, not at
the "staff" level. As a side note, I also know many people in senior
management at another bank out there.

It's nice that you decided to snip at me with your very limited knowledge of
internal experience at a specific company. If you would like to reread my
email, notice I said partners. You did not mention anything about that. In
fact, in your original email, you didn't specify a partner OR internal
staff.

Until you are able to read effectively and have a view outside of Citi you
can take your condescending bullshit elsewhere.

Tony

Really ever hear of Citigroup? It's only the 2nd or 3rd largest bank in the
world...

Guess what's happening over there?

How about Washington Mutual? Or Merrill Lynch? Or Bear Stearns?

There aren't "major corp's" right? And they are not cutting back their
budget right? Its just like 1999 again... they are all about to underwrite
The $4 Billion dollar IPO of razorfish.com all over again?

LOL

I think you need to talk to more people.

If those guys are doing bad, I can tell you a lot of smaller banks, brokers,
funds, are doing much much worse... remember wealth trickles down. If
Merrill and CITI don't need me as a CCIE to drop in some sup 720's with a
qos policy its because they are sitting on $500 Billion of CDO's that are
about to write off/down.

I personally know several contractors that have been released at CITI or are
on the ropes.

Its going to take a while for CCIE's to get back into the "senior tranches"
again friend...

I'd rather rebuild my knowledge than work as a CCIE for $120k per year in a
stagflationary recession"

LOL

I must say that I'm really surprised to hear this. The partners I know
can't hire good people fast enough/retain them.

This is Chicago and NY. Voice is especially hot but security and r/s are a
close second.

Also, I don't know one major corp (mind you I don't know all) that is
cutting their "Cisco" budget or plans on cutting back.

I'm an RS (not SP or security) of course... but I can tell you its very bad
here. I don't know anything about London, but i'm taking 2008 and maybe 2009
to re-do my knowledge from the ground up.

Remember a CCIE is an advanced beginner. I'm doing both of the certs that
guy is, but I don't expect any more $$$ for it.

Its time to appreciate what we have, even it its not what we expected...

Joe,

You are our man in New York.

Just how bad do you think things will get over the next 12-24 months. It's
clear that many of the overseas candidates aspire to working in the US. Not
that I think you have a crystal ball or anything.

Regards
Gary
