OK folks, I have taken my first baby steps towards the SP track now. I have
several books on MPLS and I have started to work my way through them (some
for the first time, others for the second or third pass). One thing I can't
help but notice is that the blueprint for the written and the lab don't
track exactly. Joe Brunner once told me (and I think the group) that, as
far as the R&S was concerned, you should consider just doing the written
about a month before the lab and just grab one of those dates that
inevitably pop up from people dropping out before the 28-day payment window.
When I look at available lab dates (for R&S anyway), I always see plenty in
the coming 30-40 day window and then starting again at about six months out,
so this is an entirely feasible approach to the R&S IMHO (although having
the date booked immediately following the written has a certain motivating
influence that I like). That may not be such a great idea for the SP track,
though, given some of the differences I see in the blueprints.
So I guess my question is should I just try to work my way through the
recommended reading list, pass the written, and then begin lab prep (as I
did for R&S). Or should I go get a vendor workbook now and just work my
way through that, reading as I need to in order to complete the labs? Or
some compromise between the two? Any and all thoughts and suggestions will
be welcomed and appreciated.
Regards,
Scott
