Hi,

In one of the the mock labs you get a the following question :

When R2 joins a multicast group, R5 ( which is RP and MA) is sending the traffic also to R1.

R5 is the hub and R1/R2 are the spokes in a FR cloud , and all the devices are in the same subnet.

The task is to resolve this issue.

I tried to simulate this problem by configuring on R2 an igmp join-group and pinging from R5 to the address but I'm not seeing my packets on R1 ( did a debug ip packet and debug ip mpacket ) .

How does it comes that he's sending the packets to both routers? when I do a debug ip igmp I see clearly that the IGMP reports has the router IP addres which sends the request. So he should send it only to the requested router.

Any suggestions ?

By the way the solution is using ip pim nbma-mode ...
