I'd have to say stick to what they have asked you to do.

People say extra configs do not hurt and proctors may even say the same
when asked.

But...

Some tasks may be designed to be graded wrong if you configure the
"other options"...

Maybe?

Stick to what's asked and your grade might be higher.
