Money's great and all, but is that really what's important?
John, what would make you happy to be doing every day for the next X
number of years?
In the long term do you want to be miserable making 500K or satisfied
with what you do at $100K+.
Money's going to be good for the short term but that quickly fades into
the background if you're miserable doing what you do for a living.
Speaking from experience, I think I can safely say that if you're having
difficulty (apart from physical issues or laziness) motivating yourself
to go to work each day, you're probably in the wrong place or wrong
career. Where you think you'd find yourself if you went down the CCIE
lane or the PhD lane?
