Subject: Inter-AS MVPN Question - ?
Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2008 15:03:07 +0000
Hi:
I would like to build up a simple scenario for inter-as mpvn where the routers
are connected as:
CE
Send1-A-----PE1-A
----RR-A----ASBR1-A------ASBR1-B----RR-B---PE2-B-----CE1-B
Have vrf VPN_A configured on PE1-A and PE2-B. Routers in AS100 and AS200
CE1-A has a mcast group configured 224.4.4.4. CE1-A is also the RP
I would like to be able to ping this group address from CE1-B
vpnv4 b/w PE1-A and RR-A, and b/w PE2-B and RR-B.
option c - send-label b/w ASBR1-A and ASBR1-B
vpnv4 b/w RR-A and RR-B with next-hop unchanged.
Has anyone got such a scenario to work? Seen pings successful from CE1-B to
CE1-A?
What would a working solution look like?
I checked out CCO and found a doc with an example but am still not clear !

Looking at option C for inter-as:
Configuring the Exchange of VPNv4 Routes Between RRs Using Multihop MP-EBGP
Peering Sessions (Option C): Example
1. I noticed that #ip pim ssm default was configured only on PE1-A, ASBR1-A,
ASBR1-B and PE1-B
But not on RR1-A and RR1-B. So if both the AS's were already configured
for pim-sm with either BSR or Static, this command is also needed for the
vrf's but only on the PE's?
2. I noticed #ip multicast rpf proxy vector cmd. on PE1-A and PE1-B only -
just need to understand how this cmd plays a role in this scenario?
3. #address-family mdt is only on the vpnv4 peers?
If anyone has got an inter-as mvpn scenario working, I would appreciate it
very much for any assistance.
Thank you.
