Gregg,
If you have IE Technology labs, it does a really good job to make you
understand the difference between Auto-RP and BSR.
A few more points you could add to your list are (Please correct if
necessary....) :
- Auto-RP uses multicast dense mode to propagate information on RP (and
therefore needs to be in sparse-dense mode, but if you are in sparse
mode, you may still use Auto-RP if you configure ip pim autorp listener
on all routers or if you configure a RP for 224.0.1.39 & .40 on all routers)
(vs)
- BSP propagates information hop by hop
- Auto-RP = Cisco only (vs) BSR = not vendor specific
