Yep, that's about the size of it DR. Linux-like (or better) performance
with a rather simple GUI and some bundled tools (AppleScript and whatnot).
But there are some OS X-unique things to be learned (AppleScript and
whatnot). I personally underestimated what it would take to master OS X
sufficiently to run a lab on it and I think many other do too. One thing in
favor of Linux over OS X is that not everything available in Linux is
necessarily available in OS X. For example, tap interfaces are apparently
quite a simple matter in Linux but I have never been able to get then
working in OS X. Stuff like that.

j/k guys :) Mac is cool. I suppose the advantage to running dynamips in mac
OS, is you get a canned GUI experience, none of that difficult Linux stuff
to deal with, but with the performance of the linux builds. Did I get it
right?

In response to Darth, I guess people are looking at the Mini because its a
cool little box that you can stick under the TV (or wherever) and it can
handle the tasks. I havent owned a desktop PC for a while and would get one
but I just dont have the space at the moment, and the idea of a Mini suits
me fine if it does the job :)

I have been running the full IEWB topology on a Mini for quite some time
now. Running Advanced Enterprise code and with all of the routers fully
configured (IGPs, BGP, etc), my CPU utilization is between 20 and 30%. None
of the lab topologies I'm doing calls for 13 or 14 routers, but I have ran
in excess of 20 just to see what I could see. By the time you get in the
neighborhood of 25 routers, that Duo Core proc is going to be stressed.
The most important thing to bear in mind is that if you're going to go this
route, plan to set aside a good full week to learn the ropes of your new OS.
Seems some like to go with OS X or Linux and then immediately post on the
Hacki forum (or worse, here) asking for a good hand-holding. They usually
don't elicit too much of a response, because it's pretty clear when someone
isn't trying very hard to help themselves. Be willing to invest the time or
just chose to invest the cash in a hardware rack instead...
