Hi Phillip,,

Distance command is only effect on Local router .so it will not effect to
R4 at all and in OSPF as you know routes can not be control by using OUT
keyword due to its way of LSA working.

*Inter-Area Filtering*
**
1)OSPF summary-prefixes on ABRs
Area X filter-list ( called by prefix list) - Between two Areas

2)Filter OSPF summary-prefixes using network ranges
Area X range a.a.a.a b.b.b.b not- advertise (keyword)
not-adv keyword use to block propagation of summary .

3)Ingress Filtering with Distribute-list (egress doesn`t work)
note that distribute list only block route from entering local RIB, and does
not stop LSA propagation
distribute-list X in (called by access-list)

In your case you can use distribute-list with access-list to block routes
but it will enter to your database.

Thanks

Shahid
