Hi:

Generally speaking here is my approach:
Switches (12.2.25SEE) - understanding the differences is helpful, but
knowing where to find the basic differences is key.
Spending most of your time under one switch platform
will help you understand the layout of the technology/ucd/switch. Since
a good percentage of the configuration on both devices
is the same, bouncing between the two devices is not
always helpful. Concentrate on one device and
understand the technology and then work between the two devices. A few vendor
sites go through the differences
between the platforms. Looking at these pages you will
see there are subtle differences, but the base technology is the same.
I spend most of my time here:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat3560/12225see/index.ht
m
Routers - never under the platform always under the ios software.
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios124/index.htm
                        12.2 and 12.4 - a lot of the information in the 12.4
guide refers to the 12.2 guide. Most of the technology in 12.4 is based off
the
guide 12.2 has not changed. However, all the enhancements are included in the
12.4. If you know where to find the information in the 12.4 guide you will
also
be able to find it in the 12.2. There are layout differences between the two
versions. I do find it easier some times to go to 12.2 and find the data
there.
Knowing both is very important, however, knowing 12.4 is very vital.

Your mileage will vary, everyone's attack is different. In general, know the
CD
and the sub sections. The new design of the cd is not bad since you are
given
the whole book and not sub sections. This makes it easier to bounce between
areas. However, once you know the technology area, you can easily find the
sub
section.

Just some thoughts...
Douglas

I hear a lot about knowing the DocCD inside and out. There seems to be a
ton of information on Cisco.com/univercd that is not on the lab blueprint.
So my question is from the main page what places do I need to focus on?
Just 12.2/12.4 IOS code, 3550/3560 switch pages, and 3725/3825 routers?
Anything else?

Thanks

Steve
