Chaps,
I have managed to upgrade the switch now. Thanks for all the assists.
In the end, switch to switch tftp worked ok. George's command tftp-server
did the trick. I found I had to change into the directory where the bin file
was located to get things sorted.
followed by boot system flash to load the IOS once copied over. I imagine
the limitations on tftp transfers may have caused me problems with the
cabletron tftp server I had running. Thanks for the tips on that and some
useful tftp server alternatives for the future.
I can get on with some more practice labs now :)
