Hi R S,
I would not spend any time at the beginning trying to figure out
un-assigned interfaces.
But at the end the IGP section, I would write the ping script which
includes all interfaces (do sh ip alias and Control V and highlight
the IP addresses ) and fire it up. If ping fails, I would make sure
those interfaces are redistributed accordingly. Drawing your diagram
comes in handy for this....
Remember, on routers where mutual redistribution b/n two routing
protocols are done, local interfaces are not re-distributed.
Also, re-do the ping after finishing all sections ( sometime stuff
happens especially after Security...QoS...etc). They may also tell you
not to worry pinging some extra interfaces.
Helpfully someone else will chip-in and cool tricks or corrections...etc
