Wacky Bridging Scenario

In IE Core Lab 4 task 4.2 you're asked to configure bridging across an
ethernet and frame relay segment on router R6 which has IP routing disabled.
You are not allowed to use IRB.

   .100 .254
R4---------e0/0-R6-s0/0----------BB1
             54.4.10.0/24

The solution guide says to configure bridge-group1 on e0/0 and s0/0, and
also to configure the same IP address 54.4.10.6 on both the ethernet and
frame relay interface!

My questions is how is this even allowed? Normally you get an error message
when an IP address overlaps two interfaces but I guess since IP routing is
disabled it is working????
