using multicast from a non multicast speaker

Hello,

I am trying to ping a multicast feed over a dense mode network. I am
on a LAN router that is not enabled for Mcast. There is a multicast
router on the LAN. I cannot get a response. Is this because I am not
an IGMP client?

I thought that a non Mcast enable router could ping Mcast feeds, if
they are dirtectly connected to a Mcast router, once you define the
correct interface and make sure of the RPF check?

Sorry...I have a hole in my thinking here.......any someone help.
