So Tarun,
As I just mentioned in another thread, I've skipped ahead to the mcast
section of a CoD I'm in the middle of. It was not explained why, precisely,
but it was clearly stated that only permit statements are a valid
configuration wrt group-list ACLs. So I still don't remember where I got
this the first time around, but now here I have it again a second time.
Also, it was specifically mentioned that the DocCD is less than stellar on
this particular topic (agreed!).
And it would seem that Chris's findings support this idea that deny
statements are a problem (even though they can, of course, be entered into
the configuration).
Any thoughts to help clarify this? Seems to be a recurring topic (not quite
up there with the 14 second STP thing, but recurring nevertheless)...
Regards,
Scott

Tarun,
Are you saying you've done and can personally confirm this approach?
Because I've seen loads of stuff on CCO and in Cisco Press books that I
wouldn't try to take to the bank. I can't recall where at this point or I
would post a link or something, but I'm pretty sure we've had it proven
definitively that deny statements are a problem for Auto RP group-list ACLs.
At least in 12.4 code...
Regards,
Scott

Rik,
A Deny statement is perfectly acceptable as per CCO.
