I am glad to hear that you are not giving up.

For OSPF distance command, you need to think in which area you are and how
the area learnt about the prefix (i.e. which type of LSA).

The prefixes will be reoriginated by ABR's as type 3 or 4. 3 for Summary
LSA's and 4 to Reach the ASBR.

Hence, one prefix which has originated within the same Area as either type
1,2 will have the router-ID of the device originating the prefix or the
Router-ID of the DR.

The same prefix, outside its originating area, will be reoriginated by the
ABR as type 3. and the Router-ID would have been the router-ID of the ABR to
reach this same prefix.

External routes are originated by ASBR, LSA 5 across the OSPF domain.

External routes in NSSA are originated by the ASBR as LSA7, and reoriginated
by the ABR as LSA 5.

I may not be 100% correct, so I'd suggest that you build a 3-area network
with 2 ASBR's, 2 ABR's and 3 Internal routers and watch the output of "sh ip
ospf database". It will help understanding.
